KANAZAWA, Ishikawa Pref. (Kyodo) Yuki Mori, the son of former Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori and a member of the Ishikawa Prefectural Assembly, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of drunken driving after ramming into a convenience store in the prefecture while under the influence, police said.

No one was hurt in the incident, which occurred around 10:10 a.m. in the city of Komatsu, but the store's windows were broken, the police said.

Later the same day, the 45-year-old Mori submitted a letter of resignation to the assembly, which was immediately accepted. He was first elected in 2006 and was serving a second term.
