FUKUOKA (Kyodo) An American man running an English school in Fukuoka Prefecture has been indicted for allegedly shooting pornographic images of a girl who was his student, investigative sources said Monday.
The 69-year-old resident of the city of Fukuoka was indicted in early March after police seized from his home more than 600 videotapes and photographs of dozens of his students, mostly elementary school-aged girls, they said.
The man was initially arrested in January on suspicion of conducting lewd acts on his students but was released later without being indicted, according to the sources. In February, he was arrested again for allegedly breaking the law banning child prostitution and child pornography, they said.
The man, who has lived in Japan and taught English, mainly to elementary school students, for decades, allegedly took students to his home, offering private English lessons, the sources said.
