SAPPORO (Kyodo) A nongovernmental organization is selling Valentine's Day chocolates with proceeds going to help Iraqi children who have cancer.
A donor who gives ¥500, the minimum amount, receives 10 heart-shaped chocolates in a tin featuring a picture drawn by Iraqi girl Sabreen Hafed, who died last year of cancer at age 15, and a picture card by a young patient with cancer, according to the Japan Iraq Medical Network.
The group said the proceeds from the campaign with Rokkatei Confectionery Co., a chocolate maker in Hokkaido, will be used to buy drugs for young Iraqi cancer patients.
