NAGOYA (Kyodo) The umbrella body of Toyota Motor Corp. group labor unions is considering making no uniform demand for a regular wage hike for its members in the 2010 business year, sources said Friday.

If the Federation of All Toyota Workers' Unions forwent the demand, it would be the first such move in three years and will likely have a considerable impact on next spring's annual "shunto" labor-management wage negotiations for auto and other industries.

A formal decision is expected to be made at a union meeting in mid-January. The key Toyota Motor Workers' Union is also likely to forgo its demand for a wage hike for the first time in five years, the sources said.
