CHIBA (Kyodo) A 48-year-old man arrested in a robbery case has indicated he may have been involved in the murder of a 21-year-old college student in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, in October, investigative sources said Monday.

The man, arrested in mid-November in connection with a robbery, closely resembles a man in security camera footage withdrawing cash from the bank account of Yukari Ogino, a Chiba University senior, a day before she was found slain in her gutted apartment, the sources said.

"The man who withdraw cash from the automated teller machine was me," the suspect allegedly told the police, according to the sources.

Ogino, who was last heard from on the night of Oct. 20, was found dead with stab wounds to her neck and chest after the apartment she lived alone in was destroyed by arson on the night of Oct. 22.
