PITTSBURGH (Kyodo) Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama told Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh on Friday that Japan is ready to offer support to India on climate change, underlining the importance of increasing efforts to counter global warming, Japanese government officials said.

Hatoyama, who attended the Group of 20 financial summit in Pittsburgh, also agreed with Singh that Japan and India will strengthen their strategic global partnership, the officials said.

Singh expressed hope that Japan will support a proposal for a massive infrastructure project linking Delhi and Mumbai, and called for mutual cooperation in the development of science and technology beneficial to both nations, they said.
