Households plan to spend an average of ¥37,000 on “silver week,” the long autumn holidays later this month, 30 percent more than they spent during Golden Week, a Dentsu Inc. survey says.

“It seems to show brighter signs for personal consumption, as about one year has passed since the Lehman shock,” the advertising company said, referring to the global financial crisis triggered by the collapse of U.S. investment bank Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. last September.
