The Democratic Party of Japan is maintaining a clear lead over the Liberal Democratic Party among voters with less than a month to go before the election, according to the latest Kyodo News survey.
In a nationwide telephone poll Saturday and Sunday, 34.4 percent of respondents said they will vote for the DPJ in the proportional representation section, up from 30.7 percent a week earlier, while 16.7 percent said they will vote for the LDP, up slightly from 15.6 percent.
