OSAKA (Kyodo) Comedienne Haruka Minowa staged a comeback Sunday and thanked her fans for their support during her absence since early April while undergoing treatment for tuberculosis.

"I greatly appreciate the many people who encourage me," the 29-year-old said at a news conference at Mainichi Broadcasting System Inc. in Osaka.

Minowa, who was hospitalized in Tokyo for nearly two months until May 29, also said, "I feel sorry that my having tuberculosis affected society due to the disease's nature."

Minowa and Haruna Kondo form the comedy duo Harisembon.

Her diagnosis raised concerns among fans about possible infections at theaters and other locations, prompting the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to start special consultations.
