The Bank of Japan said Thursday the economy is worsening "significantly," maintaining its evaluation in March.
"Japan's economic conditions have deteriorated significantly," the central bank said, keeping the most pessimistic language since 1998 for a second month.
The BOJ decided this week to increase its purchases of government bonds from banks and offer subordinated loans to lenders in an effort to revive the economy.
