All Nippon Airways Co. will cut fares by up to 15 percent for some flights linking cities through major hubs, compared with current fares for direct flights that are being canceled.

The airline will offer tickets 10 percent to 15 percent cheaper for flights via Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya airports in the year starting April 1, said Rob Henderson, an All Nippon spokesman.

ANA will cut seven direct routes, linking cities that include Fukuoka and Sendai, in the next business year as it tries to boost the percentage of seats filled on flights. The airline, set to be the first recipient of Boeing Co.'s new 787 Dreamliner, is retiring old aircraft and improving fuel efficiency as jet fuel trades near a record high.
