Japan Post Holdings Co. and major distribution service provider Nippon Express Co. are aiming for greater operational tieups, including a door-to-door parcel delivery service, with an eventual capital tieup in mind, sources said Thursday.

Japan Post, which began its privatization process Monday, has an advantage over its delivery business rivals due to its nationwide network, while Nippon Express is especially strong in delivery services for corporate customers.

By mutually entrusting delivery services in the areas where they have advantages, the two seek cuts in personnel and transportation costs to bolster profitability, the sources said.
