Saburo Kanemaru, a former governor of Kagoshima who also served as chief of the Management and Coordination Agency, died Wednesday at the age of 93, his family said Thursday.

Kanemaru served as Kagoshima governor from 1967 to 1977 and also as chief of the Management and Coordination Agency, now part of the Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry, between December 1988 and June 1989 under the administration of the late Prime Minister Noboru Takeshita.
