OSAKA (Kyodo) Halogen heaters made in South Korea have caused 65 accidents but no injuries since 2001, and customers should contact the Osaka-based importer to get them fixed for free, a government-backed industry watchdog said.

The DW-803 heaters were sold to 38,154 customers by mail order between January and August 2001 by importer Ban-yu Co.

The accidents occurred from March 2001 to this past March, the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation said Monday.

Some of the accidents involved burned carpets, but no injuries have been reported, it said.
