SINGAPORE (Kyodo) The Japan Foundation donated more than 400 books Wednesday to Singapore’s National Library to mark a state visit by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko to the city-state last year.

Japanese Ambassador to Singapore Takaaji Kojima expressed hope that the book donation “will enhance and promote better understanding between Japan and Singapore on Japanese culture” and “encourage students to read more about Japan.”
