Pioneer Corp. said Monday it has filed a lawsuit with a U.S. district court in Texas against Samsung SDI Co. and several other Samsung group companies over an alleged infringement of patents related to plasma display panel technology.
Pioneer said the company has been negotiating in good faith with SDI to grant the South Korean firm a license for access to Pioneer's PDP patent portfolio since April 2005.
"Pioneer, however, determined that litigation was necessary in order to protect the value of its intellectual property in the PDP product field," the company said.
