Four people were killed Sunday morning when their car collided with a large truck in Suzaka, Nagano Prefecture, police said.
The dead were identified as company employees Manaya Kobayashi, 18, and Masayuki Maruyama, 18, and high school students Wakana Hakata, 17, and Akane Matsumura, 16.
The police said they are investigating the cause of the collision, which occurred at an intersection at around 4:10 a.m.
The truck driver, identified as Toru Yanagi, 45, was transported to a hospital with minor bruises to his waist.
