The Tokyo District Court said Tuesday it will start court-led bankruptcy procedures on Susumu Ojima, president of Huser Ltd., a condominium developer at the center of a building structure-data fabrication scandal, accepting a request by condo residents to assess his assets and place them under protection for future damages claims.

The court had decided Feb. 16 to begin bankruptcy procedures on Huser, also accepting a request from 12 residents representing some 300 households. Huser has appealed the decision.

Huser developed about 20 of some 100 buildings that the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry said were designed with substandard structural-strength data fabricated by now disqualified architect Hidetsugu Aneha.
