OKAYAMA (Kyodo) Okayama Prefecture is using a Spanish mackerel promotional campaign to bring its region more recognition.

"Once you eat it, you'll be in heaven," said Keiji Akagi, chairman of the tourism committee of the Okayama Chamber of Industry and Commerce, as he cheerfully made a pitch for the fish while a group of dancers performed a specially choreographed mackerel dance nearby.

Akagi, 67, is the key figure in a campaign to promote mackerel as a specialty product of Okayama, which has the highest per capita consumption rate of the fish in Japan.
