The DNA of body fluids found at the scene of an alleged rape in Okinawa matches that of an American civilian employee of the U.S. military who was arrested Friday in the case, Okinawa Prefectural Police said Saturday.

The DNA matches that of Dag Thompson, 34, who has denied allegations of breaking into the house of a woman in her 20s on Aug. 22 while she was asleep and raping her, according to police.

Similar cases have been reported in the prefecture and the police are investigating whether Thompson was involved in them.

The police placed Thompson in the custody of the Naha District Public Prosecutor's Office on Saturday.
