The Singaporean Embassy is urging Singaporean nationals here to register as overseas voters.

For a regular update of the Registers of Electors for the 23 Constituencies in Singapore, the embassy asks Singaporeans 21 years or older as of Aug. 31 to check their names in the registers at the embassy's Overseas Registration Center or at the Web site of Singapore Elections (www.elections.gov.sg) or the eCitizen Portal (www.ecitizen.gov.sg).

The center at the embassy, located at 5-12-3 Roppongi, Minato Ward in Tokyo, is open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (closed 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.) Monday through Friday except public holidays.

Those whose name are not listed can apply for registration as overseas electors.

The application forms are available at the center or can be downloaded from the Web sites. Completed and signed application forms must be submitted in person to the center or sent by registered mail.

Those eligible to vote are required to check their names and apply for registration by Oct. 18.
