The Liberal Democratic Party will submit a bill to the Diet in the fall designed to improve support systems for crime victims, party sources said Saturday.

According to a draft of the bill, the national and local governments would be obliged to support crime victims.

The authorities would be required to allow victims to stay at public facilities, such as public housing, if it becomes impossible for them to live in their own homes, and to provide them with financial assistance.

The draft notes that victims should be provided with information about development in criminal investigations and judicial procedures involving offenders.
