NEW YORK (Kyodo) Sony Corp. said Wednesday it has filed a lawsuit against Eastman Kodak Co. for infringing on 10 of its patents on digital camera technologies.

In the complaint lodged with a New Jersey federal district court, Sony sought an unspecified amount of damages and an injunction against further use of the technologies, including one related to electronic shutters.

On March 9, Kodak filed a suit against Sony for violation of 10 of Kodak's patents on digital camera technologies.

Sony said its action is not related to the Kodak suit. However, it is seen as a counterattack by Sony, which leads Kodak in the digital camera market.

Kodak has been proceeding with drastic restructuring to rebuild its earnings base.
