Economic and fiscal policy minister Heizo Takenaka spent Sunday afternoon lecturing at a private girls' high school in Tokyo on Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's structural reform plan.

In a two-hour lecture at Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin High School in Shinagawa Ward, Takenaka stressed the importance of the government's plan to privatize postal services.

Some students urged Takenaka to raise liquor and tobacco taxes to finance social security costs. Others proposed that private firms be more involved in running schools.
