Yahoo Japan Corp. said Wednesday its net profit for the October-December period jumped 87 percent to 6.65 billion yen on record advertisement revenue.

Sales for the quarter were 20 billion yen, up 55.4 percent from a year earlier.

The Internet portal site operator said an increase in advertisements by high-volume clients, led by financial institutions and beverages, expanded its ad revenue during the three months to a record 5.83 billion yen, up 65.5 percent from a year ago.

The firm said its Internet auction business also posted solid growth after it reduced fees charged to auction houses operating on its site.
