Tatsushi Iwama, 63, president of Sapporo Breweries Ltd., will head a new holding company, tentatively called Sapporo Holdings Inc., to start up July 1, company officials said Tuesday.

Sadao Fukuda, 60, Sapporo Breweries' executive officer, is expected to become president of Sapporo Breweries, which will start as a new company under the holding company, the officials said.

Sapporo Breweries will make a formal announcement on the personnel change, including the new heads of the soft drink and restaurant operations, on Friday, the officials said.

Sapporo Breweries announced last year it would reorganize its operations into four companies and put them under the wings of a new holding firm July 1.

A formal decision on transforming the firm into a holding company will be made at a shareholders' meeting scheduled for late March, the officials said.
