One man died and another was left in serious condition after they were shot Monday afternoon near JR Tokyo Station, police said.

The Metropolitan Police Department was alerted to the incident at 2:40 p.m. The two men were both reportedly shot in the chest in a busy commercial area some 200 meters from the station’s Yaesu exit.

Investigators have taken one man into custody and are now trying to identify both the suspect and the two victims.

A female employee at a nearby convenience store said she heard about five shots and saw two men struggling with each other, police said.
