Suzuki Motor Corp. will recall four of its minicar models, including two it produces for Mazda Motor Corp. and Nissan Motor Co., to fix air-bag defects, the transport ministry said Tuesday.

The recall will concern a total of 22,945 MR Wagon, Alto Lapin, Spiano and Moco minivehicles produced by Suzuki between March and April, the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry said.

Suzuki produces the MR Wagon and the Alto Lapin under its own brand, while the Spiano is made by Suzuki for Mazda and the Moco is made for Nissan, based on original equipment manufacturer contracts.

The defect in the air bags' gas-igniting device may prevent the bags from ballooning in a collision, according to the car manufacturer.
