The parents of a 12-year-old girl who died from apparent malpractice last year at Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital filed a criminal complaint Tuesday with the Metropolitan Police Department against six medical staffers whose alleged negligence resulted in her death.
Akika HirayanagiToshiaki Hirayanagi, 51, a dentist in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, and his wife, Mutsumi, 41, said police should investigate the death of their daughter, Akika, and subsequent efforts made by the hospital to cover up the malpractice, which they claim is a violation of the Medical Practitioners Law.
