The government cut fiscal outlays for fiscal 2002 by 6 trillion yen, exceeding the targeted 5 trillion yen, the Finance Ministry said Tuesday.
About 2.7 trillion yen worth of the trimmed outlays allocated in the fiscal 2002 budget are earmarked for use in the seven priority sectors chosen by Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi to accelerate his reform efforts and to stimulate the economy, the ministry said.
