The Lower House will begin deliberations today on two landmark antiterrorism bills worked out by the government in the wake of last month's attacks in the United States.

The ruling coalition is planning to keep the deliberations going through the weekend to expedite the legislation.

During a House of Councilors committee meeting Tuesday, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said Diet approval is unnecessary before sending the Self-Defense Forces overseas, a controversial point in an SDF-dispatching bill.
