CHIBA — A dairy cow in Chiba Prefecture is suspected to have contracted mad cow disease, government officials said Monday.
According to the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry, it is the nation’s first suspected case of the disease, formally called bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
