A Foreign Ministry official on Tuesday expressed concern to the Israeli ambassador in Tokyo over Israel's seizure of the Palestinians' unofficial headquarters in East Jerusalem in retaliation against terrorist activities, ministry sources said.

Toshinori Shigeie, director general of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau, proposed to Israeli Ambassador to Japan Yitzhak Lior in a telephone conversation that the seizure end as soon as possible, according to the sources.

Shigeie told Lior that such measures will not contribute to breaking the cycle of violence between Israelis and Palestinians, the sources said.

Lior said he would take note of Shigeie's remarks.
