After scores of revisions, the Education Ministry on Tuesday authorized a junior high school history textbook that has been roundly criticized by Asian countries charging that it glossed over Japan's wartime history.
The authors of the textbook revised 137 sections of its draft in line with ministerial instructions in order to secure official approval.
The textbook, which will be published by Tokyo-based Fuso Publishing Inc., was compiled by members of the Japanese Society for History Textbook Reform, which is considered to have strong nationalistic views.
