DaimlerChrysler AG plans to have its U.S. Chrysler division and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. adopt common vehicle chassis and jointly develop new cars, industry sources said Wednesday.

The two will also integrate their auto-related financial operations.

DaimlerChrysler, which has a 34 percent stake in MMC, is expected to include the steps in a restructuring plan to be announced in February.

The measures are aimed at improving the efficiency of both the Chrysler division and MMC.
