A 54-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing an acquaintance with a blow to the head while the two quarreled over a game of go, police said Wednesday.

Police said Norio Sasaki of Tokyo's Kita Ward hit Kimiharu Adegawa in the head at around 10 p.m. Tuesday outside a bar in their neighborhood.

Adegawa, 56, died early Wednesday morning, and police said they would send the case to the prosecutor's office as one of suspected bodily injury resulting in death.

The two, both neighbors and regulars at the pub, were talking about a certain go move when they started to argue and went out on the street, a barkeeper was quoted as telling the police. Adegawa had come to the bar at around 7 p.m. and Sasaki some 10 minutes before the incident, according to the police.
