It's totally understandable if you still have reservations about going out in Tokyo. But if you do feel comfortable exploring, there's some delightful new takeout desserts to try.
The highlight of early July comes from strawberry sweets specialists Ichibiko, which has seven stores across Tokyo, including branches in Sangenjaya and Kitasenju. Starting on the first day of the month, Ichibiko debuted a Strawberry Milk Ice Candy, an ice bar (¥400 before tax) combining the juicy taste of its signature fruit with either soda, apple mango and, for the flavor purists, even more strawberry.
Whichever bar you choose, you'll be in for a treat. Ichibiko finds the right balance between the tartness of the fruit and the creaminess of milk, and it matches well with each of the three complementary subflavors. It's a good, heat-beating treat for the summer, whenever you decide to venture out.
