To coincide with Halloween, Pepsi has rolled out the classic “mystery flavor” trick to promote its new limited-edition Pepsi Ghost cola (¥151).

There are no clues to the taste on the packaging, so trying it yourself is the only way to really discover what’s up. Surprisingly, it’s a treat — Pepsi Ghost tastes similar to the Wild Cherry offering in the United States.

Although the cherry taste is a little toned down here, this is still the closest thing to a cherry cola you can get from a Japanese convenience store. If that doesn’t scare you off, stock up before this beverage vanishes from shelves.

In line with COVID-19 guidelines, the government is strongly requesting that residents and visitors exercise caution if they choose to visit bars, restaurants, music venues and other public spaces.
