Special kaiseki menu of uni
Sushi restaurant Roku Roku at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo is offering a special course dinner featuring sea urchin (uni) paired with sake.
Sea urchin, in season from May, is one of Japan’s most popular and valued seafoods and is said to alleviate fatigue and rejuvenate the skin. Roku Roku uses different types of sea urchin, such as murasaki uni (purple sea urchin) and bafun uni (horse-dung sea urchin), from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south, to create the nine-dish kaiseki course.
For the appetizer, three kinds of sea urchin are cooked in different styles to match the character of each — for example, fresh grilled sea urchin sushi and vinegared rice. The course also includes orange clams and seasonal vegetables, three kinds of sashimi, simmered eggplant, sweet fish tempura, a sushi plate, sea urchin and abalone soup, and seasonal fruit.
Served with two sake of different characters, the course is ¥15,000 per person and is available between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., through June 30.
The Grand Hyatt Tokyo is a three-minute walk from Roppongi Station. For more information, call (03) 4333-8788.
