Founded in 2001 in Paris, DeValence has become one of the most prolific graphic design studios in France, recognized for its bold use of typography and shapes, inspired by the tenets of modernist Swiss and Dutch schools of typographic design. The studio's clients range from major institutions such as Harvard University, and the Pompidou Centre to France's leading contemporary artists Pierre Huyghe, Raphael Zarka and Saadane Afif.

Kyoto ddd Gallery marks DeValence's first solo exhibition in Japan, with a showcase of two decades of graphic designs, including a poster for the La Commune theater's "Dom Juan" (2017), a "DADA" exhibition catalogue for the Pompidou Center and a poster designed for the 2017 Venice Biennale.
