If you're a teenager in this film's futuristic society and you don't fit into one of the five factions (each representing a different human virtue) that divide up the population, then you're a "divergent" and potentially harmful to everyone else. Tris (Shailene Woodley) discovers she's one of them and must protect herself from the forces that seek to hunt her down. A bit Orwellian and a bit entertaining.
