This sleeper hit traces the ups and downs (mostly the latter) of three high school kids who are turned into superhero types with telekinetic powers. Written by John Landis' son Max and directed by newbie Josh Trank, "Chronicle" is playfully evil in tone without cozying up its three leads (Dane DeHaan, Alex Russell and Michael B. Jordan), who learn the hard way about great power and great responsibility. Very provocative.
