"Pottery from Hyogo's Five Provinces"

The Museum of Ceramic Art, Hyogo — founded in 2005 in Tachikui, home to Tamba Tachikui ware pottery — has an important role as a research facility for those interested in Hyogo-based ceramics, such as Tamba, Sanda and Minpei wares.

The museum's original collection comprised around 850 ancient ceramics from Hyogo, primarily Tamba ware, which were collected by Kan Tanaka, the founder of a Hyogo-based bus company. It has since expanded its collection, adding other Hyogo ceramics, and now boasts more than 1,000 items.

This show presents some 140 works, representing kilns in the five Hyogo provinces: Tamba, Settsu, Tajima, Harima and Awaji; till Aug. 28.
