The life of a polar-bear cub and a walrus pup are documented with a preachy message on the effect of global warming. The two infants struggle through blizzards, starvation, threats of predators and ever-thinning ice. The closeup footage of polar bears and walruses, especially under water, are stunning, but the oversentimental and explanatory narration (cowritten by Al Gore's daughter, Kristin) detracts from the film's powerful visuals. Still, a good movie for young children to learn about ecology.
