I get paid OK, I guess. The standard is around 250,000 yen. I've also done some part-time extra work. I got about 6000 yen yen for a night. Maybe my neck will be in the film for two seconds.

I came to Japan after being transferred over on an ex-pat salary. Now I work for a Japanese bank, and I get a little bit less that at the overseas company, but it's still a lot. Maybe in absolute terms, from the amount of output that I give, but comparatively to other people in the industry, I'd say I'm underpaid.

I think I'm paid pretty well for the work that I do here. I would never say I was overpaid, but well paid. Probably more so than anywhere else in the world. Foreigners can be paid much more than Japanese for the same work, depending on where they are in the hierarchy.

In terms of pay, I'm not rich, but I can live in Japan. I think in the past there was a lot of work for French teachers, but many people can come over now short-term on working holiday visas, so the cost of lessons is going down.
