Due to a New York Times’ production error, the front page and page 5 of the Dec. 12 edition were duplicated in the Dec. 20 edition of The New York Times International Edition that was distributed in Japan by The Japan Times.
This accident was related to a printing test previously conducted by The New York Times. The incorrect pages were transmitted to the printing facility in Japan, and the error was not identified until after the paper had gone to print.
The Japan Times and the New York Times deeply regret this serious error and apologize for any confusion it might have caused.
