A meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a regional economic summit in South Korea next month cannot be ruled out, according to a report published Saturday citing a Seoul official.

The report by the Yonhap news agency appeared to be a reversal of Seoul’s earlier position that North Korea’s participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit was unlikely.

"As of now, it is difficult to say conclusively, but we cannot rule out the possibility (of a Trump-Kim meeting)," the unnamed official was quoted as saying Friday.
