China’s Foreign Ministry on Monday announced sanctions on Hei Seki, a Nippon Ishin no Kai lawmaker in the Upper House, for his remarks criticizing Beijing and the Chinese Communist Party.

The sanctions, which were issued under China’s anti-foreign sanctions law, mean any assets Seki holds in China are frozen, and Chinese organizations and individuals are banned from engaging in transactions and cooperating with him.

Seki and his immediate family will also be denied visa and entry into mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, according to the order.
