The father of Japan's three-time Olympic wrestling gold medalist Saori Yoshida was found dead in his car after suffering subarachnoid bleeding Tuesday morning.

Eikatsu Yoshida, 61, was found collapsed in his car on an expressway in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, parked at the shoulder, and was confirmed dead at a hospital, according to police.

Before pulling off on the shoulder on the Ise Expressway, he is believed to have hit the center divider and then the guardrail, the police said, based on damage to the car.

He served as a coach for Japan's female wrestling team, and was on his way to Aichi Prefecture to join the team, which is scheduled to hold a training camp in Tokyo.
