Amid the end-of-year traffic rush, the driver of a minicar was killed on the Tohoku expressway in Fukushima Prefecture after a truck rammed it from behind, police said Saturday.

A total of five vehicles were involved in the accident, which took place around 2:40 p.m. in Koriyama when the minicar, which was at the end of a line of stationary traffic, was rammed, setting of a chain-reaction collision, police said. No further injuries were reported, they added.

Police on Sunday identified the victim as Tsuyoshi Iwabuchi, 44, from Sakai, Ibaraki Prefecture, who was on his way home to visit relatives in Aomori Prefecture.

The truck driver, Toshiyuki Sato, 37, of Nihonmatsu, Fukushima Prefecture, was arrested for alleged dangerous driving.
